When you mute a group chat in Instagram Direct, you will still be included in the conversation but will not get alerts. When someone mutes you, you will no longer see their updates until they un-mute you.
From the Profile tab, go to the Instagram Settings page, then touch Notifications, then Direct Messages, and finally toggle the Group Requests tick to Off. This will disable receiving group messages on Instagram.
On Twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, and Twitter for Android, you may silence a direct message chat by following these steps: Navigate to the direct message that you want to silence. Enter the message settings by clicking or tapping on the message settings button. Select Mute notifications after clicking or tapping the information symbol. Your friend will no longer receive notification sounds when someone sends them a direct message.
"Mute Conversation" or "Unmute Conversation" should be selected. When you mute a discussion, all notifications are turned off. The only way to reactivate the conversation is to either accept or reject the message itself.
Say it aloud: "Pause." What Happens When You Unsend an Instagram Message? When you unsend a message on Instagram, it is no longer visible to you or anybody else who is a part of the discussion. The unsend option works regardless of whether you are messaging a single individual or a group. When you unsend a message, the recipient will never see it.
Instagram limits messages to 10 per day. So if you want to keep talking about something with someone, you need to send them more than one message today. If you forget to send another message, then the previous one will be deleted.
It's important to note that once you have unsent a message, you can't get it back. So don't worry about sending a perfect message first time around; just send it and move on from there.
Muting someone on Instagram does not result in a notice being sent to them. When you mute someone on Instagram, they are not alerted. The only way they'd know you muted them is if they employed the methods described in this post. They won't be able to detect if you've muted them if you don't.
Muting someone on Instagram prevents any of their posts from appearing in your feed. You cannot see their photos, and they cannot see your profile. However, they can still send you messages.

Private messaging is available to all Instagram users. If you haven't made your account public yet, we recommend that you do so. That way, you'll be able to send and receive messages from anyone who has an Instagram account.
In addition to posting photos and videos, using Instagram allows you to send private messages to other users. These messages appear only in the inboxes of those you send them to. You can say anything you like in a private message, from telling someone how much you love them, to asking them not to spam others with photos of themselves drinking wine.
Instagram private messages work exactly the same as regular email messages.
When you go to the settings menu, tap on the Notifications option. When you click on the notice, the direct messages option will appear in the notification area. When you get a message from anyone, the app will inform you. This is the approach for hiding your Instagram message or discussion.
As a result, you will not be distracted. Please keep in mind that the messages will still be delivered to you or the person you have muted. When you open the app, though, you can see all of your alerts, including Instagram Direct notifications for new messages.
This feature was first introduced by Instagram back in 2016. At the time, it was referred to as "Quiet Hours". The premise was that you could block out certain times during the day when you did not want to receive notifications from Instagram. If you wanted to check up on what people were saying about you or your photos, you had to log back in.
Instagram has since changed its name and added some other features while still maintaining this concept of Quiet Hours. You can now choose to mute only specific types of notifications - such as comments, likes, and direct messages. When you're ready to reactivate those functions, just click on the icon next to the name of the person who sent you the message.
Here's how it works: Open the Instagram mobile app. Navigate to the Settings menu. Click on the Notifications button. Here you will find all the options for controlling which types of notifications you would like to be alerted of. Mute any user by long-pressing on their profile image and selecting the Mute option. They will no longer appear on your home page but they will still send you notifications.
