Purpose is just the realization that you are working for something bigger than yourself. The combination of free time and creative tools is known as cognitive excess. It's what separates us from animals; we have the ability to think about things beyond our own needs. Purpose gives life meaning and value. It also provides an outlet for your energies. Without it, those energies will find other ways to deal with the stress of living.
Living without a purpose is called desiccation. It means drying out or wasting away. Your body will try to protect itself by shutting down essential functions such as breathing and heartbeat. This is done through depression or anxiety. Living without a purpose in an urban setting can lead to suicide. The rate of suicide is high because it is so hidden from view. Most people who commit suicide do not know why they are killing themselves. Some give no warning signs while others may show symptoms of depression such as insomnia, loss of interest in usual activities, and/or feelings of hopelessness.
Finding a purpose goes beyond simply doing good in the world. It is also about pursuing your passions with all your heart. This does not mean that you should put yourself in dangerous situations or let yourself be swayed by social expectations. A person must find their own way by listening to their heart.
When you have a strong sense of purpose at work, you are more enthusiastic, inventive, and devoted to your task. Your external focus is on serving the organization. Furthermore, your professional and personal goals are in sync. If you feel this way, you have a goal-oriented attitude.
People with a clear work purpose are more likely to enjoy their jobs and be committed to their organizations. Without such a purpose, you may feel like you are going through the motions at work and that there is no real reason for you to get out of bed in the morning. You may even feel like quitting sometimes!

This means that they will usually go after higher paying jobs or at least consider other options if their current position isn't giving them what they need/want.
Self-actualization: Meaningful jobs allow us to explore our abilities and fulfill different roles within our community. This gives us the chance to show the world who we really are inside and out. Such jobs also help us grow as people by providing us with new experiences and opportunities like no other type of work can.
These are just some of the many reasons why it's important for everyone to have a purposeful job. It doesn't matter what field you're in, there's always room for advancement and greater responsibility, which is why everyone needs to try and find a job that fits them best.

However, the lazy person might tell someone they saw him drinking at a party and feel bad about themselves because they felt like partying too.
