1. Click the "GIF" button in the "Write a Comment" area. 2. In the same manner that you discovered a GIF to use as a status, pick the GIF you want to use as a comment. 3. Click the "Post Comment" button.

GIFs are also useful because they allow you to show different aspects of your personality or situation in a single image. For example, if you want to show someone's reaction to a funny joke but don't want to take up space in your story with an entire video, then a GIF is the perfect solution.
