People don't like to hear "woe is me" again and over, especially if nothing is done about it. Face it squarely. Maintain an optimistic attitude. Be honest with yourself. Don't attempt to outdo others. The emotive side. Dissect it. (Psychologists call this "dissociating" - separating what you feel from what you think- so that you can understand it better.)
The more you confront problems head-on, the easier they are to deal with. So never fear them.
Obstacles are simply things that prevent you from reaching your goal. They are often tests of some sort: trials set by God or whatever higher power you believe in, to see how you react under pressure. If you come through them unharmed, then you have proven yourself worthy of going further. If not, then you must return to where you were and try again.
Life is full of obstacles: illness, disability, poverty, rejection. An obstacle may be something external to you, such as violence, war, or famine. Or it may be something internal, such as depression or addiction. But no matter what the obstacle, you can decide what role it will play in your life.
