It is possible to seek up friends just by city, assuming that city has already been listed as your hometown or present city. To search for people based only on their city, click the "Find Friends" icon in the upper right corner of any Facebook screen, followed by the name of the city in the left column of the "Find Friends" page. The system will then display anyone in your network who lives in that city.
Go to your Facebook profile/timeline and click on friends, then use the drop-down list to select "Search by Current City" and input the city's name. This will discover your Facebook friends that have that city listed as their current location. You can also use this method to search for friends who are located in different cities.
On a PC, the filtering option is on the left-hand side of the screen while looking for Facebook friends. Click on "Choose a City..." under City and input the location's name into the allocated bar. Facebook is quite good at determining what you want. As a result, the city should appear after only a few letters.
On mobile devices, the Location feature is found in the menu button's settings icon. Here you can choose to show your current location or enter a custom address. It works much like searching for friends on the site - click on the Location button and type in the place you're looking for.
Enter the search term or click the 'Enter' key. Facebook displays the profiles of people who match your search criteria. You may narrow down your search results by city, school, or university. This is an excellent method for locating anyone who has a Facebook page.
The "Find Friends" box is on the right-hand side of your screen. On your People You May Know list, you may apply a range of filters, such as name, hometown, employer, and current city. Under Current City, choose a city. The people in that city will appear under the category called "People You May Know From This Place."
If you want to search for all of your friends, not just those in your current city, then use the Search box at the top of the page. Type in a word or phrase to see if it brings up any results. If there's enough interest, we'll even show you suggestions while you're typing!
Here are some other ways to find friends:
Browse photos. Clicking through our photo gallery will display a map with markers showing where friends live. Click on their names to go directly to their profiles.
Search for someone. Start by entering their first name into the search bar. If they have a public profile, the results will include their email address, which you can use to send them a direct message asking if they want to be friends.
Add someone as a friend. Click the Add Someone As A Friend button next to their name on any page of the site. We'll ask you to verify their email address before adding them as a friend.
