More than half of European Union people utilized social media in 2016. In 2016, 38% of EU-28 residents reported using social media on a daily basis. Denmark had the greatest rate of daily social media use, with 59 percent of the population using it on a daily or near-daily basis. France came in second, with 56 percent of the population using social media daily.

By contrast, only about half of Europeans in Italy, Greece, and Spain used OSNs in 2016.
