Do people use social media in Europe?

More than half of European Union people utilized social media in 2016. In 2016, 38% of EU-28 residents reported using social media on a daily basis. Denmark had the greatest rate of daily social media use, with 59 percent of the population using it on a daily or near-daily basis. France came in second, with 56 percent of the population using social media daily.

Almost one fifth of Europeans (18%) were active users on Facebook in 2016. The figure for Twitter was 4%. Older people tended to be more likely to use social networking sites.
