When a person establishes a room using the function, Facebook notifies others via a dedicated space in the news feed or by delivering a notification to users. The number of people who are notified depends on the settings that were specified when creating the room.
Facebook will notify you of activity involving you directly, such as tags, comments, or group activity. It will also notify you of activity involving your friends, such as posts by people in your network. It may also notify you of some things it thinks are important (such as sales or breaking news). In addition to these direct messages and alerts, Facebook lists several other categories of notification: "friend request", "message", "post to wall", "tagged photos", "event", and "app".
A friend request will appear in your main inbox, along with a message window where you can accept or reject the request. If you don't respond within 24 hours, the person will eventually give up the quest for your approval and the request will be accepted automatically.
A message will generate an email alert for you if someone tries to send you a private message. These messages appear in your Inbox but are not displayed to the public.
A post to your wall is like a message only more so. It will appear on your page similar to how your status update appeared on your profile page. Users can comment on your post, just like they can with messages. Any response you make will also show up on their feed.
You'll have two choices. The first option, "Friends," allows anybody on your Facebook friends list to view your room at the top of their news feed and join if they desire. The second option, "Invite Specific Friends," allows you to choose which friends may view and join your room. You can select up to 200 friends or groups of friends for this feature.
On Facebook, users may poke their friends or friends of friends. When you poke someone, they will receive an alert. They can then click the link to learn what crime they are accused of committing.
The majority of Facebook alerts are generated as a result of your own interactions with the site. You receive alerts when you leave comments on posts, join groups, or follow pages. The less of these activities you engage in, the fewer notifications you will receive. However, you can also be alerted of activity related to items that you've added to your news feed.
You may want to be notified when someone posts about a product or service that you're interested in. If this is the case, you can add such items to your interest list by clicking on the "I'm interested in..." link next to any post about such products or services. From here, you can select whether you want to receive an alert every time something new is posted on the page.
You may also want to be notified when someone tags you in a photo, video, or event. This can happen if you're identified as being in multiple photos, videos, or events at once. When this occurs, you'll receive an alert for each item tagged along with you appearing in it.
Last but not least, you can be notified whenever someone likes or shares a page or post that you manage. If you have other people involved in your business who need to know about these actions, they can also set up their own accounts and notify others when they take certain actions.

Users can control what information they give away by keeping their details private. If you don't want others to see that you like The Beatles or were born in 1974, then change the default setting for these types of profiles.
Some people argue that Facebook causes division between people because it provides an environment where bullying and harassment are able to flourish. Data shows that girls use Facebook to talk about bullying and harassment, while boys use it to share photos of women without their consent. It's clear that not everyone uses Facebook to unite people together; instead, it's used by some people to harm others.
